Historical information Typhoon Painted Speed Boat Model:

The original Typhoon was designed by George Crouch in 1929, one of his notable creations alongside Baby Bootlegger and Teaser which achieved awards. Teaser gained fame for its victory in a time trial against the Twentieth Century Limited from New York City to Albany in 1925.
Edsel Ford is a passionate boat racer, admired Teaser and commissioned an exact replica for personal use. This new high speed boat, named Typhoon was 40 feet long and powered by a Wright Typhoon engine known for its racing prowess. Despite its speed Typhoon lacked amenities like windshields and could accommodate eight adults across three cockpit compartments.
In 1941, Ford sold Typhoon to Howard Hughes who kept it operational during the war but sold it shortly after. Over the years, Typhoon changed hands multiple times until it ended up in Kentucky. Later, in the late 1960s, it was moved to Seattle, Washington. Unfortunately while docked at Bryant’s Marina in Washington, Typhoon was caught in a fire that destroyed it completely, marking the end of its legacy.
