Constructed in 1911 at the “Chantiers et Ateliers de la Gironde” shipyard located on the banks of the Garonne River in Bordeaux, it was designed by chief designer Gustave Leverne (1861-1940) for the nickel ore trade and owned by the “Société Anonyme des Navires Mixtes (Prentout-Leblond, Leroux & Cie.)
